MWA Corporate Business Manager, Justin Haslam-Lucas stated, in response to the signing:

“This is the beginning of the most fruitful relationship and interesting times. DAMsmart understands media archives, and the value MWA systems can bring to any film archive, whether customers are looking to provide access to large film collections, or looking for alternatives to expensive traditional photochemical film preservation using the best digital technology.”,

MWA formed in 1926, under the name MWA Albrecht GmbH as a manufacturer of Radio components. Today, the company leads the world in cost effective professional solutions for transferring 8mm, 16mm and 35mm film content to SD or HD, for repurposing and/or archiving. The company is renowned world wide for its engineering excellence and ground breaking pricing.

As well as distributing the full range of MWA products in Australasia, DAMsmart will commission MWA film scanning systems in its service bureau from July. This will include the new Flashscan HD film scanner for standard 8 and super 8mm archival films, and the Flashtransfer 16mm for high quality archival transfers of 16mm collections. MWA scanners are well suited to the needs of fragile archival film with their gentle film transports and precise engineering.

DAMsmart Media Migration Manager, Joe Kelly, added:

“We are really excited to broaden our video migration services by now being able to bring the Australasian market similarly automated, scaleable and cost-effective solutions for valuable film archives. By combining MWA scanners with automated encoding, QC and control tools, we can now offer real value for film content owners, by migration to SD or HD files in virtually any format, for preservation and access.”,
