DAMsmart! migrates Music Video Collection for SBA Music

DAMsmart! has completed the migration of over 2000 individual music video clips from one inch analogue video to a file-based collection for Sydney-based SBA Music.

With a growing collection of obsolete videotape archives, SBA Music came to DAMsmart! looking for a cost-effective solution to migrate the archive into contemporary file formats for production and distribution. SBA Music specialises in providing music solutions for businesses, from themed CD’s and DVD’s through to complete solutions for the electronic delivery of music and video into pubs, clubs, retail outlets and hotels.

DAMsmart! maintains significant replay and encoding architecture for virtually any video format, and was able to take the one inch masters from SBA and clean them before replay and encoding to DVCPro 50 format in MXF for import directly into Final Cut Pro. With many of the tapes approaching 30 years old, DAMsmart’s specialist conservation services enabled mouldy and damaged tapes to be restored to pristine condition, with the resulting MXF files providing a new lease of life to the archive.
